Therapeutic indications for Ttindamax

  • Giardiasis.
  • Intestinal amebiasis.
  • Amebic liver abscess
  • Before taking this medicine you should keep

    Do not take this drug if you are

    • Allergic to tinidazole or metronidazole (Flagyl)
    • If you have conceive for last three month
    • Should not use in breast feeding mother

    To make sure you can safely take Tindamax, tell your health care provider if you have any of these other conditions:

    • kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis);
    • epilepsy or other seizure disorder;
    • a blood cell disorder such as anemia or low platelets; or
    • a weak immune system.
    • The tablet of this drug are available in 250mg-40; 500mg-20

    Drug interactions with this drug

    • Do not give within 2 weeks of disulfiram.
    • Potentiate oral anticoagulants
    • Monitor cyclosporine, tacrolimus, fluorouracil
    • Cimetidine, ketoconazole

    Dose for Adults

    Take with food. Giardiasis: 2g as a single dose. Intestinal amebiasis: 2g once daily for 3 days. Amebic liver abscess: 2g once daily for 3–5 days. Hemodialysis: see literature.

    Dose for Children

    Less than three 3yrs: not recommended.

    • Take with food. Less than three years
    • Giardiasis: 50mg/kg (max 2g) as a single dose.
    • Intestinal amebiasis: 50mg/kg (max 2g) per day for 3 days.
    • Amebic liver abscess: 50mg/kg (max 2g) per day for 3-5 days

    What happens if I miss a dose?

    Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

    What happens if I overdose?

    Take the medical assistance after overdose of this drug.

    • Monitor leukocytes before and after therapy
    • Elderly
    • Pregnancy (Cat.C) (2nd and 3rd trimesters).
    • Nursing mothers: not recommended during and for 3 days after last dose
